Many business owners choose to look after their own bookkeeping when first starting out in business. This is quite common as at first your transactions will be minimal and easy to keep on top of, also you won’t want the added expenses of paying for a bookkeeper to do it for you.

However it is important that once you get busier and your bookkeeping is no longer easy to manage that you reach out and get the support and expertise of a bookkeeper. Not only will they manage your bookkeeping but they will be able to produce insightful reports which will help your business to move in the right direction, a vital aspect to consider when your business is growing.

In the meantime whilst looking after your own bookkeeping, you may be a little overwhelmed with the software you are using. We recommend using Xero as it’s really easy to get to grips with once you know the basics.
