The Power of Networking: Why I try not to miss events like Accountex

The Power of Networking: Why I try not to miss events like Accountex

As a business owner, I've come to realise that growth is not just about the services we provide or the hours we put in; it's also about the connections we make. That's why, as the owner of LJM Bookkeeping, I prioritise attending events like Accountex. These gatherings are more than just dates on a calendar; they are vital opportunities for professional development and building meaningful relationships that can take our business to the next level. I also get opportunities to talk about things I’m really passionate about which will hopefully help others from my experiences.

The Value of Networking

Networking is an extremely important aspect of any business, and for good reason. It's about more than just handing out business cards or shaking hands; it's about cultivating genuine relationships that provide mutual support and opportunity. At events like Accountex, I'm surrounded by like-minded professionals who are passionate about what they do. Engaging with them offers fresh perspectives, new ideas, and the chance to learn from the successes and challenges of others.

Building Relationships

Every conversation at a networking event has the potential to change the trajectory of your business. Whether it’s finding a new client, connecting with a future partner, or gaining insights from an industry leader, each interaction holds value. I've met some incredible people at past events who have since become collaborators, referral partners, and even friends.

Networking is not just about what you can get out of it; it’s about how you can contribute to others’ success as well. Sharing experiences, offering advice, or simply being there to listen can establish trust and credibility, which are invaluable in our industry.

Staying Ahead of Industry Trends

Attending events like Accountex also helps me stay up to date on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the bookkeeping and accounting world. The insights gained from attending workshops, seminars, and panel discussions are crucial for keeping LJM Bookkeeping at the forefront of industry developments.

Self-development is a continuous journey, and these events provide an excellent platform for learning new skills, discovering innovative tools, and understanding emerging trends that could benefit my clients.

Why I Make It a Priority

I understand that as business owners, our time is precious, and it can be challenging to step away from the day-to-day tasks. However, I genuinely believe that investing time in networking and self-development is one of the most valuable things we can do for our businesses. That’s why I never miss an opportunity like Accountex. It's not just an event; it's a chance to grow, learn, and connect with those who can help elevate our business to new heights.

If you’re on the fence about attending a networking event, my advice is simple: Go for it! The people you meet and the knowledge you gain can make a world of difference.

I went to Accountex a couple of weeks ago and met up with some familiar faces – and met plenty of new ones too! It’s always great to network, so next time the opportunity arises go for it, and be sure to let me know all about it.
